93 DISCOVERING THE HAGELAND BY MEANS OF A GPS: INITIATION FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS

Hageland+

Aim/goal of this project: introducing the use of the GPS in primary schools as a modern tool to explore the Hageland. This proposition refers to a previous project named ‘Hagelandse dag van de leerkrachten’, in the final conclusions of which the teachers expressed the need for initiation, support and applications in terms of the GPS use in primary schools.
This project intends to develop a concrete offer in order to teach the teachers to use the GPS as well as its applications and to autonomously develop tracks adapted to the class, so that the pupils can ‘explore’ the region. A surplus value is offered by the link with Geocaching, according to which a hidden ‘treasure’ constitutes a nice, stimulating challenge.
