39 'BUITENGEWOON GEDEELD' (EXCEPTIONAL SHARING ECONOMY)

Hageland+

The aim of this project was to experiment with different forms of the sharing economy that had till than been limited in the main to urban environments. The goal now was to roll out the different forms of the sharing economy to the countryside. There was also a parallel aim to target the most vulnerable families by working together with the Public Centres for Social Welfare. Until than, it was mainly the higher educated middle class that had benefits from the sharing economy and not so much vulnerable families.

The initiative was started by the childcare centre and implemented by the local KVLV group. Vulnerable families are assisted by the Public Centre for Social Welfare and the childcare centre, which is also used by many vulnerable families. The project aimed at both parents and children.

Examples of different actions include: food banks, repair cafés, bicycle libraries, nappy distribution points, etc. The work of the project with local workshops enhances social cohesion and helps tackle the problem of isolation among vulnerable families. We collaborate with the recycling shop for the logistics side of the cause, such as providing reusable goods.

A scenario has been drawned up on how to implement these different forms of sharing economy in very small villages and how this can benefit the most vulnerable groups.
