53 'VREDESSPOREN' (IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF PEACE) IN HOEGAARDEN

The municipality of Hoegaarden wanted to commemorate the centenary of the First World War in an appropriate and serene way. Thanks to the “Vredessporen” (In the Footsteps of Peace) project in Hoegaarden, the peace-promoting message "No more war!" featured at a number of strategically chosen locations in the municipality. Not only to commemorate the victims, but above all to learn lessons so that we ensure a peaceful future. Home-made ceramic poppies, peace benches and peace poems in Corten steel have been installed at the green contemplation sites. Young and old, residents and tourists were all be able to participate in this communal project.
