19 TANDEM: SUSTAINABLE SOCIAL TOURISM FACILITIES Scherpenheuvel-Zichem
'De Vlaspit' has further elaborated its social employment project, by developing and running a qualitative and sustainable social tourism offer in the centre of Scherpenheuvel. Its offer consists of:
- selling regional products from Flemish Brabant;
- bike renting;
- guided cycling tours in Scherpenheuvel-Zichem-Averbode;
- selling decorated candles, prepared according to traditional methods in De Vlaspit’sworkshop;
- a bistro offering a wide variety of regional dishes and drinks;
- the opportunity to visit De Vlaspit’s candle workshop (in group).
Because of its location at the Albertusplein [Albert Square], on the ring way around the basilica, and of its large surface, this place is very suitable for a social tourism project in the heart of Scherpenheuvel’s tourist centre.
