57 MULTI-PURPOSE YOUTH PREMISES FOR A YOUTH-FRIENDLY POLICY AND SOCIALISING OPPORTUNITIES Boutersem
The Boutersem scouts are one of the municipality’s largest youth organisations.
On 14 November 2008, however, a large part of their premises were destroyed in a serious fire. Approval of the sectoral zoning plan application for the plans for a new building was expected in the course of 2009.
In the next two years, the municipal authority will create a new building to serve as premises for young people and as a meeting place, which can be used by the scouts, but will also be available for other activities for young people such as teenagers’ or playground activities, and as an infrastructure for socialising. Due to the rising population and the increase in the number of young families, the municipality also expects that in the future it will be necessary to expand the facilities for children and young people.
