101 DEN HOF WAANRODE, WHERE MEETING AND LOCAL PRODUCTS TAKE CENTRE STAGE

The ‘Den hof Waanrode’ project aims to create connection, focusing on the local food economy. An existing garden in Waanrode, belonging to the day-care centre of Ferm Home Care, will be maximally softened and redesigned as a meeting place for young and old. A petanque court and playground equipment will provide a connection between users of the day care and local residents. Farmers and horticulturists will have the opportunity to have their tasty local products tasted in the garden and sell their produce in the outdoor infrastructure. By bringing different groups of people together, we help combat loneliness in rural areas. By promoting local products, we help preserve regional identity and boost local short-chain initiatives.
