32. THE 'KOSTERSHUIS' (SEXTON'S HOUSE) ON THE VRIJTHOF IN DORMAALZoutleeuw
The “Kostershuis” (Sexton’s House) in Dormaal is one of the meeting centres in Zoutleeuw. A valuable building that, together with the church, forms a defining feature of the historic streetscape of the village. The hall was outdated and in dire need of renovation and modernisation.
The interior was renovated thanks to the help of a large number of volunteers, with a particular focus on energy-saving and environmentally friendly measures. Today, the “Kostershuis” is a contemporary meeting centre for residents and reaches out to new target groups, such as the nearby residential care centre and farmers as part of an effort to promote short food chains.
