35. MULTIFUNCTIONAL MEETING PLACE FOR SCOUTS IN AVERBODE

Scherpenheuvel-Zichem

The Averbode associations no longer had anywhere to meet after the municipal meeting centre closed its doors. The scouts also suffered from problems with their premises; their old classrooms were completely run down and in poor condition. The scouts committee, together with the Averbode associations, drew up a plan for a new building. The aim was to provide a solution for all the associations: new rooms for the scouts and a multifunctional space which would serve as a suitable meeting place for the residents and associations of Scherpenheuvel-Zichem.

An additional advantage is that the new building can be used for youth holidays and residential tourism. Interaction is also being set up with the De Vlindertuin school on themed nature activities and workshops. The new building was ready at the end of 2019.
