47 INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND AND CYCLE-FRIENDLY SPORTS CENTRE

An extraordinary experience: the playground at the Ter Linde sports centre, Tiensesteenweg 196a in 3380 Glabbeek has been adapted to meet the additional needs for G-sports and those of the future social residential area. Why make this playground inclusive? The number of disabled students in schools is constantly growing. The impetus behind this project was the fact that the municipality organises G sports camps and also by the existence of local organisations that arrange activities for disabled people. Of course it is also a welcome improvement for all the children in our municipality. The second part of this project was based on the impressive number of suggestions received. There were no bicycle storage facilities for recreational or sports cyclists. However, the sports centre is on an attractive tourist route and near to a cycle network crossroads. The setting has been improved and enhanced so that it will attract people to pass through or stop for a short visit.
