5 ACTIVITY CENTRE RUFFERDINGE

Landen

The aim of this project was the transformation of a rather passive visitors’ centre into an action centre with the goal of attracting more families and children, groups of schoolchildren and other group visits. Individual visitors/tourists were also included in the target audience. An inspiring place that focuses on a number of core aspects:

the watermill remains at the heart of activities: a clear link to agriculture;
we continue to look at the watermill as a machine but also as a source of energy;
how does it work?;
education mixed within entertainment broken down into three sections: agriculture, hydro energy, technology;
the environment: draw attention to water as an alternative source of energy;
working with sustainable materials;
technology: actively drawing the attention of children and teenagers to technology.
