52 MULTIFUNCTIONAL FACILITY : RECTORY OF MEENSEL

Tielt-Winge

The municipality of Tielt-Winge has made a multifunctional facility that is implemented jointly by different players. The Rectory of Meensel has been redeveloped as a historically valuable heritage site. It acts now as a strong tourist attraction in the heart of the Hageland. This project promotes our regional identity and has lots to offer in terms of content and facilities in the field of cultural-historical heritage in an educational environment. The leitmotif revolves around three main themes, namely the events that took place in Meensel-Kiezegem in August 1944, fruit growing and Eddy Merckx. In this multifunctional facility people work in an educational, interactive way in a museum setting, via workshops, exhibitions, guided tours and excursions (also extra muros), in which the Multifunctional Meensel Rectory plays an important role as a meeting place as well as offering opportunities for experiences. A high degree of accessibility is guaranteed, so that different target groups are able to discover the different aspects of the Hageland in a sustainable way.
