The municipality of Tielt-Winge and the Church Council of Meensel-Kiezegem have given NCPGR Meensel-Kiezegem ’44 the opportunity to set up a new museum around WWII on the ground floor in the former Meensel Rectory. Meensel-Kiezegem is a village that was badly affected in the Second World War and where 10% of the population were deported to German concentration camps after the murder of a collaborator. Two museums dedicated to this era already exist in the municipality. With the merger of the two associations, and on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the events in August 2019, a completely new digital museum was set up to support the education relating to the commemoration as part of the Vredesjaar 2018 (Commemoration of the Armistice).
The museum opened its doors in August 2019. More information and opening hours can be found on the website https://museum44.be/
