The annual Horse Procession that traditionally goes out on Easter Monday in Hakendover has long been a household name at local, regional, supra-local and even international level. The procession attracted 20.000 visitors during the last edition. In spring 2022, an application was submitted to include the Horse Procession in the Flemish Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Recognition would give the procession extra charisma.
In addition, the Procession Committee wishes to develop a promotional film in collaboration with the city of Tienen. The procession of 2023 will be beautifully portrayed after which a short promo film will be placed online on various channels to give the procession extra exposure. This will make the horse procession visible and accessible to an even wider audience throughout the year. Through this project, we want to safeguard intangible cultural heritage for future generations.
