74 OPENING UP WET NATURE TO THE NEIGHBOURHOOD – MOERGRACHT IN ROOSBEEK

Boutersem

The project is part of a broader climate approach in the Velpe Valley and focuses on water experience and nature accessibility for residents and visitors. The re-meandering of the Moergracht and the construction of infiltration zones will create extra space for water storage, infiltration and valley nature, contributing to biodiversity and climate adaptation.

This project will make the area accessible via footpaths, bridges and information panels that raise awareness about water management and climate change. The historic Roosbeek parsonage garden will be integrated into the whole, creating a green, experiential space in the village centre. In this way, the project combines ecology, heritage and recreation in a climate-resilient living environment.
