94 KOKED: MAKING SHORT CHAIN MORE BROADLY ACCESSIBLE IN DIEST

Diest

Koked, the Diest Short Chain vending machine, is a demo project around public-private Short Chain cooperative ventures at the Den Amer cultural centre, which is known as a social hub in the city of Diest. The aim of this project, that appears at a time when locally produced food is gaining in popularity, is to contribute to increasing the visibility of farmers in and around the city. We are fully committed to regional identity by enabling farmers behind the products to tell their story in a way that generates notoriety for them. And we have chosen a site where new Short Chain target groups can be approached in a way that avoids competition with existing initiatives as much as possible. Farmers, now active in long and short chains, combine their knowledge and experience and bring the countryside to the city through innovative cooperative ventures.
