Roosbeek's Saint Anne's Church is being repurposed. In its new function, it will preserve the religious movable heritage of the churches of Boutersem on the one hand and provide a museum set-up for the most valuable pieces. On the other hand, the church will also serve a multicultural function, with possibilities and adapted infrastructure for concerts, lectures, exhibitions, theatre,...
A pop-up was started in 2021 to gauge the interest of the local population and to look for committed collaborators. From the pop-up, the non-profit organisation 'HannaH Acteum' was born. "HannaH" refers to St Anne's Church and "Acteum" is composed of the first three letters of "ACTivities" and the last three letters of "musEUM". HannaH (call sign for the non-profit association HannaH Acteum) manages the repurposed church of Roosbeek to build a socio-cultural meeting place for the population of Boutersem.
By replacing the old church chairs with new stackable chairs, Roosbeek's Saint Anne's Church will have more potential as a socio-cultural venue. On Open Monuments Day 2024, this will allow the combination of an exhibition of local church heritage in the nave of the church, with a visit to the historic choir. In the meeting corner, visitors can chat and enjoy a drink. There is seating for everyone.
